Steps to Cancel
- 1Log in at figma.com and go to the File Browser
- 2Click the Team name in the left sidebar (not Drafts)
- 3Click Admin at the top of the team view
- 4Select the Settings tab
- 5Scroll to Plan and Billing and click Billing
- 6Find your current plan and click Cancel plan (or 'Change to Starter' / 'Downgrade')
- 7Select a cancellation reason from the dropdown (required)
- 8Click Continue Cancellation
- 9Click Finish Cancellation to confirm — watch out for the 'Cancel annual plan' option which switches you to monthly billing instead of actually cancelling

Clicking 'Cancel annual plan' or 'Don't renew my annual plan' switches you to monthly billing at a higher rate — it does NOT actually cancel your subscription. You must specifically look for 'Change to Starter' or 'Downgrade' to truly cancel.
There is no visible 'Cancel' button anywhere. The cancel action is labelled 'Downgrade to Starter,' 'Change to Starter,' or 'Change plan' — never 'Cancel.'
Only Team Admins or Owners can access billing settings. Regular team members see no billing options at all.
Each Figma team has its own separate subscription. Managing multiple teams means cancelling each one individually — subscriptions are not consolidated in one billing view.
Viewers can self-upgrade to paid Full seats by clicking 'Ask to edit,' creating a new design file, or being given Edit permissions. Admins receive no real-time warning and the bill increases automatically.
Organization and Enterprise plans cannot be self-serve cancelled. You must email support@figma.com at least 30 days before your annual renewal date. Missing this window means you're charged for another full year with no refund.
Figma does not reliably send renewal reminder emails. You must track your annual renewal date yourself.
The mobile apps (iOS and Android) have zero billing functionality. You must use a desktop browser to cancel.
Seat true-up billing happens every 3 months — if seats were added mid-term, prorated charges can appear unexpectedly throughout the year.
What Happens After You Cancel
Access
Paid features remain active until the end of your billing period, then the team downgrades to the free Starter plan.
Your data
All files are retained and become view-only (locked) after downgrade. Files remain accessible for viewing indefinitely. Editing access is restored immediately upon re-subscribing. If the account is fully terminated, Figma retains files for 30 days before deletion.
