Quick Facts
Watch Out
Spotify does not offer annual billing — all plans are monthly only.
Canceling Premium doesn't delete your account. You revert to Spotify Free with ads, shuffle-only on mobile, and no offline downloads.
If your plan is managed through a partner (mobile carrier, internet provider), you must cancel through them. The cancel option won't appear on your Spotify account page.
The mobile app cancel flow ultimately redirects to a web browser — it's not a fully in-app experience.
Free trials auto-convert to paid Premium. If you cancel during a zero-priced free trial, you lose access immediately (not at end of trial).
If you manage a Spotify Family or Duo plan, canceling affects all members on the plan — let them know first.
Spotify may offer you a discounted retention plan (e.g., 3 months at a reduced rate) during the cancellation flow.
What Happens After You Cancel
Access
Premium access continues until your next billing date, then your account reverts to Spotify Free (ad-supported).
Your data
Account and all data (playlists, saved music, followers) are retained indefinitely on the free tier.
